Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova 3050 Series Country Special

The original Luminox Navy SEAL watch, chosen by the Navy SEALs in the early 1990s for its unrivalled 24/7 timekeeping illumination in the dark, is one of the world’s most recognisable tactical watches, known to be Essential Gear for tactical missions in the dark, used and endorsed by elite military and law enforcement groups around the world for the past 25 years.

25 years later, Luminox is proud to introduce the Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watch collection, with the word “Nova” referring to the brightest star in the night sky. This collection is currently only available in Singapore and in Malaysia. The collection marks a new extension of the brand’s core Luminox Navy SEAL watch collections, but this time featuring the best of two luminous technologies – Luminox’s proprietary Luminox Light Technology (LLT), micro borosilicate gas tubes that enables the watches to glow continuously for up to 25 years, and the addition of Super-LumiNova on the circular indices on the dial, for maximum visibility.

Like all Luminox watches, Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watches feature the proprietary LLT which comprises micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) encased in tubes that are constantly glowing, applied on the dial ring, hands, hour markers and at the 12h marker on the bezel. As a result, Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watches glow continuously in the dark for up to 25 years without the need for a light source or the use of any push buttons.

Super-Luminova, on the other hand, is dependent upon outside light sources. Super-Luminova "captures" light from an outside light source to glow in the dark and its brightness depends on the time, intensity and colour of the light that it was exposed to before. Super-Luminova is applied on the circular indices on the dial of Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watches.

With the use of both LLT and Super-Luminova, the two most cutting-edge luminous technologies in the international watch industry, Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watches will be exceptionally bright in the dark immediately upon exposure to a bright light source.

Pamela Tan, Senior Brand Manager with Crystal Time: “We wanted to pay tribute to Luminox’s core identity as the watch that owns the night. Therefore, the Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova is infused with an extra edge of luminosity with Super-Luminova on the circular indices of the dial, whilst retaining the core LLT, to celebrate the ‘light’ within the Luminox brand identity. Nova is also the Latin word for ‘new’ and the modern word for the brightest star in the night sky. The Luminox brand on its 25th year is shining more brightly than ever, literally reaching for the stars with the ‘conquest’ of both terrestrial and extra-terrestrial terrains – sea, air, land and space, the new frontier of human exploration – but nevertheless re-affirming its original roots as the watch of choice for the world’s most elite spec ops force, Navy SEALs.”

Each Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova is Swiss Made and features the high quality Swiss Ronda 5030.D quartz movement for top-grade time-keeping reliability.

The Navy SEALs is the US Navy's principal spec ops force whose duty is to conduct missions which originate from and return to water – a river, ocean, swamp, delta, or coastline – predominantly at night for that element of surprise. Prior to launching a mission, a Navy SEAL is submerged in the water, sometimes at depths of up to 100 metres, and accurate timekeeping can be a matter of life and death in such pitch dark situations in the water

Special gear is therefore needed for survival. A 20-minute diving countdown is indicated by accented coloured numerals from 0 to 20 on the uni-directional rotating bezel – this allows a SEAL, or any diver, recreational and professional, to have an easy glance on the crucial minutes left to securely monitor diving time and decompression stops before the ascent. This 20-minute diving countdown is essential during night missions for crucial decisions to be made regarding positionings to take whilst submerged in water.

In addition, with the LLT, timekeeping on Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova watches are constantly visible at a glance, even in the murkiest depths of water in pitch darkness, without the need to push a button or hold the watch to any light source. This is extremely important to the SEALs, and even to recreational and professional divers alike on night dives, whose hands are often engaged in other gear.

When the Navy SEALs are on land, they are trained to detonate bombs and are fully experienced in combat operations. The Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark Nova collection is made up of the same carbon fibre–reinforced polymer (PC carbon) material used in the original Luminox Navy SEAL watch collection, first commissioned in the 1990s, for its light-weight, durability and being a poor conductor of electricity to ensure that electrical currents do not cause a bomb to go off unknowingly. Till today, many former Navy SEALs still wear their original Luminox Navy SEAL watch with great pride as it serves as a symbol of their service to their country and to the safety of the civilians all over the world.
